Our Logo Design Process

The final outcome of a logo may seem simple and quickly achieved but the design process for a successful identity takes time, effort and experience. A finished logo may appear to be "just a bit of text" but revealing that to be the ultimate solution to the business identity is a process. Designing a visual representation of a company is the core of what we do and this workflow is how we typically reach a successful conclusion.

Discussion

Meeting with and learning about the client business

Firstly we discuss with the client the goals of their company and intended aesthetic, developing a "feel" for how they want their business to be visually represented; serious, playful, traditional, modern. In the modern office an actual face-to-face meeting can be a rare occurrence, emails and Skype calls providing sufficient communications.

Conceptualisation

Forming and presenting our ideas to the client

Logo Design Process

We discuss internally how the clients needs can be interpreted, developing ideas, researching the market to avoid common tropes and finding literal or abstract ways in which to express the core of the new business. These ideas are presented as a written document to weed out ideas or treatments the client would not want to follow visually.

Initial Drafts

Presenting our approved ideas on "paper"

We work towards visual representations of the concepts and treatments which the client regarded as having value. These are always presented in a mono format (black & white) so the idea and treatment can be better appreciated without the distraction of color.

Feedback and Revisions

Streamlining the presented ideas to suit the clients vision

From the supplied options it is rare for one design to exactly fit how a client wants the logo to be. We discard those that are instantly irrelevant and concentrate on revisions to the strongest variations.

Focus on completion

Polishing the final product

After the final version of the logo is chosen, color is worked into the design. If required, variations on the logo, such as a horizontal / vertical application or reverse and solid black versions are developed or visuals are created to show how the logo works in different situations.

Production and Delivery

We supply a "Logo Pack", a set of logos in formats which will cover all uses, typically spot and CMYK Color .eps files for printers and professional design, alongside .png files for use online and in presentations, email signatures or internal documents. Optional extras would have us supply the logo in the sizes requested by social media platforms for profile images or a brand kit to set rules for external suppliers to follow, keeping a consistent corporate look no matter where design work is produced.
